Frequently Asked Questions
![]() Don't see your answer here? Give us a ring or send us a note -- we're glad to help! 1. What should I expect upon ordering?
2. What age range is this package designed for? This package is designed for students age 16 through college-age (and recent grads). If you are above this age range and would be interested in going through Career Direct yourself, there’s good news! There’s a separate occupational version for adults who have at least a couple years of work experience. Contact us to inquire. 3. How much time does it take? Completing the powerful assessment and consultation only takes a few hours of your time in total (1 hour to take the assessment 2-2.5 hours to complete the consultation). Average length of investment in the optional books and reflection exercises varies. 4. How much does it cost? At a price point of $247 (valued at $295), Summit's Ultimate Career Direct Package is a fraction of the cost of just one college course (let alone a couple years of study or work) in a direction you may ultimately decide isn't a fit! 5. What's the assessment like? The assessment is fully online and takes about 1 hour to complete. Designed by Crown Financial Ministries, Career Direct is a thorough, well-tested and validated assessment that looks at four key areas of your design (whereas most similar tests only look at one or two): personality, skills, interests, and values. 6. What's the consultation like? The 2+ hours consultation connects you with a Career Direct Qualified Consultant over Skype. During that time, he/she will ask insightful questions to filter the test results (so they truly fit you) and offer personalized guidance about areas to pursue and ones to avoid. For added support, your parent/guardian is invited to sit in on the consultation with you (and is required to do so if you're under 18). 7. Does my parent/guardian need to be included in the consultation? If you’re under 18, the answer is a simple "yes"--Career Direct requires a parent/guardian to participate in the consultation. If over 18, we still encourage you to invite your parent/guardian to sit in on the Skype-based consultation with you for added support and to increase understanding (though it is not required). 8. Does the consultation have to be over Skype? While we highly recommend you connect with your Career Direct Qualified Consultant over Skype (or similar video conference service), you are also welcome to connect by phone if such an arrangement would be more convenient for you. 9. Is there a certain time frame in which I must complete the assessment/consultation after purchasing? Yes, because this service involves the commissioning of a trained consultant to work with the purchaser, the conditions of which include a three month window of time (from the purchase date) to complete the consultation. In other words, this service will expire with no refund after 90 days if the consultation has not been scheduled and completed by the purchaser. (This timeline can be extended if there are unforeseeable extenuating circumstances.) |
10. Can you give me a quick snapshot of each additional student resource?
11. What if I really don't have time to use all these resources and just want to do the Career Direct assessment and consultation? Depending on where you're at in life (within the academic year or otherwise), you might be at a place where you just can't make use of all these resources right now. That's okay! If that's the situation you find yourself in, here's what you can do: (1) Pick up Summit's Ultimate Career Direct Package, (2) Skim over the FAQs in the Application Guide to get your questions answered, (3) take the assessment and do the consultation, and (4) make use of the "Pre/Post Assessment and Consultation: Questions to Help You Process" materials in the Application Guide to really cement what you're learning. By at least doing these key things, you'll still be able to get a great deal out of Summit's Ultimate Career Direct Package...even if you don't have time at the moment to read the books. 12. Is the Career Direct assessment/consultation faith-based? Simple answer? Yes! The assessment was designed by Crown Financial Ministries and comes from a Christian perspective. That said, the questions themselves, though they reference religious values, would not be offensive to outsiders or young adults questioning the faith. Then the consultation itself is where the faith elements really come in. This is where you have a chance to talk with a fellow believer about how God has given you these gifts, and how you intend to steward them. 13. Where can I order Summit's Ultimate Career Direct Package?
